sakura addiction

Hibari Kyoya, the violent chairman of Namimori's disciplinary committee takes no hesitation in taking down anyone who violates his most cherished school. Hibari himself is sort of like a gang-leader to a squad of prefects who look after Namimori sternly. Hibari doesn't like people, crowds, being noisy, and his very presence sends shivers up and down Tsuna's spine. Hibari, too, is a very unexpected candidate to be in Tsuna's Vongola family. Like Mukuro, he doesn't have any desire to be completely associated with the team -- but when the school is in trouble, he'll help as much as possible to keep Namimori in tact.

Hibari's pride suffered in his fight against Mukuro. He, in fact, was the first one to face off with Mukuro but didn't put up much of a fight. Unknown to Hibari, he was injected with a fatal "incurable" disease that causes him to freeze up in the presence of sakura blossoms. Hibari made it to Mukuro's lair rather easily, but as soon as Mukuro activated the 1st path (create illusions) and surrounded Hibari with cherry blossoms, it was all over for our favorite tonfa-user. Not being able to move, Mukuro took this opportunity to humiliate Hibari by beating him unconcious and leaving him to lay around and die underneath debris. Though his strength almost completely depleted, when Gokudera throws his dynamite to Hibari to free him from the debris, Hibari has only one thing in mind to save what is left of his strength: defeat Mukuro.

Hibari was not entirely defeated once he made it back to Mukuro's hideout. With the help of Gokudera, the two made there just in time for Hibari to gain enough strength to give one last blow to Mukuro's body before getting struck again by Mukuro and being left there to bleed. Not much is really said about that afterwards, but we do know for a fact that Hibari took that loss really hard -- after all, he couldn't fight for the pride of Namimori prefects (which Mukuro had basically beaten up for he started targeting the Vongola family members).

Between these two, there is a sure score to settle. I'm not exactly sure if Mukuro wants to settle anything with Hibari (seeing as how he'd already beaten him.. twice), but Chrome's greeting to Hibari at the start of the Varia arc was a definite sign that Mukuro is patiently waiting for it. Hibari, on the other hand, is seeking it so badly that.. Reborn used his anger towards Mukuro to convince him to stay in the Vongola battles during the Varia arc. Remember: It's not entirely because Hibari finds himself to be 'weak' against Mukuro (I'm pretty sure that the Sakura disease kept his real strength away from Mukuro -- he knows he is not weak), but because Mukuro targeted the Namimori prefects and completely annihilated them (they still lived though). Hibari is terribly in love with that school, isn't he?
